When prohibition outlawed the manufacture and sale of alcoholic beverages in 1920, many enterprising residents of a small town in Iowa chose to become outlaws-producing a high caliber and much sought after whiskey known as Templeton Rye. These bootleggers and their famous whiskey quickly brought notoriety to the tiny town of Templeton with a population of just 362. Distilled from a mash bill of 95% Rye and 5% Malted barley it is matured to perfection in new flame charred American oak barrels for a minimum of 4 years. Nose: Dry, grassy, Christmas spice.
Palate: Hint of caramel, butterscotch, toffee and allspice.
Finish: Deep amber color, lingering and slightly chewy.

Templeton Rye refers to rye whiskey originally made in Templeton, Iowa during the prohibition era as a way for farmers in the Carroll County area to supplement their income. Amber in color, it was considered to be of particularly high quality and was popular in Chicago, Omaha, and Kansas City speakeasies.
