Detailed Description
Deerhammer’s Port Cask Finish is the first extension of their core American single malt release. The whiskey has been aged for a total of three years, with two years in American oak and a further one year of finishing time spent in port casks. A total of 2,500 bottles were released, available in the distillery’s tasting room and throughout Colorado.
Deerhammer Port Cask Finish American Single Malt Whiskey Tasting Notes
Nose: Winey and jammy notes lead on the nose, with both candied and tart sour apples, and an herbal side.
Palate: The mouthfeel is somewhat watery but there are big, rich flavors, with dark chocolate covered raspberries, honey, tannins, and juicy red fruits.
Finish: The finish takes on more of an oak and spice characteristic, with some lingering astringent bitterness.
