Detailed Description
Shay’s Rebellion American Whiskey was made in collaboration with Sam Adams Brewery. In 2012, Berkshire Mountain Distillers hatched the idea to triple distill a batch of Samuel Adams Cinder Bock. The resulting whiskey was then aged for 3.5 years in Sam Adams Utopias casks until the team at BMD felt it had reached perfection. The last battle of Shay’s Rebellion took place just three miles from the distillery, and they wanted to create a whiskey that celebrated Massachusetts’ spirit of independence. Less than 3,000 bottles of this whiskey were released nationally.
Shays’ Rebellion American Whiskey Tasting Notes
Nose: Delightful aroma.
Palate: Shays’ Rebellion American whiskey maintains the smokiness and malt character of the Cinder Bock that it was made from, but finishes with port and dried fruit notes from the Utopias casks that it was aged in, resulting in a mature, complicated and delicious whiskey.
Finish: Long and rich.

Established in 2007, Berkshire Mountain Distillers (BMD) has created a line of award-winning artisanal spirits including Greylock Gin, Ethereal Gins, Ragged Mountain Rum, Ice Glen Vodka, Berkshire Bourbon and New England Corn Whiskey, currently available in 19 different states. All products are handcrafted in small batches in Great Barrington, Massachusetts at the Berkshire’s first legal distillery since prohibition.
