Detailed Description
Barrell Bourbon Batch #006 is made from a mash of 76% corn, 20% rye and 4% malted barley. After the grains are sourced, they are mashed and fermented before being distilled in Tennessee through a copper still. The bourbon is then matured for eight years months in charred, white American oak barrels. The intense southern heat causes the wooden barrel staves to expand and contract, interacting with the whiskey and contributing notes of saddle leather, burning tobacco and barbeque as it matures. Once the bourbon has matured, it is bottled at cask strength (122.9 proof) without the use of chill-filtration (chill filtration removes the cloudiness that is natural to bourbon, but also removes the fatty acids and esters which contribute to the whiskey’s overall flavor and complexity).

Distillery Information
Founded in 2014, Barrell Craft Spirits scoops up extra casks of premium Bourbon and Rye and bottles ‘em up at full strength. Each batch is completely different. Sometimes the coolest casks on the market are Tennessee-style Whiskeys, sometimes they’re Kentucky Bourbon. The good stuff could be straight, or it could be a finished wood. The point is that they find the best odd lots and “left-overs” that would more likely be tossed into a generic blend and sell it to us in all of their glory.
