Detailed Description

This single cask Islay single malt was distilled in March 1975 at Ardbeg. Matured for almost three decades in a single sherry cask, it was bottled in May 2002 by indie bottler Douglas Laing & Co. (back when it was still run as a joint venture by brothers, Fred and Stewart) as part of the Old Malt Cask series. Bottled at a preferred strength of 50% abv, this release was limited to just 342 bottles.

Distillery Information

Ardbeg Distillery, which is situated on the southern coast of Islay, was founded in 1815 by the MacDougall family. Once the peated barley arrives at the distillery, it is milled and mashed with water sourced from Loch Uigeadail, which is situated approximately 3 miles away from the distillery.
