Detailed Description
As of now, through word of mouth & taste it is without a doubt Coal Ila distillate. Coal Ila is distilled in copper-pot stills that are kept less full deliberately in order to get the most from the copper contact. What’s most notable about this Port Askaig is that it comes in at 55% ABV, which is perfect for this dram. Moreover, Port Askaig is non-chill filtered and there was no colorant (E150A) added. This helps keep the taste free from cheap caramel flavoring. And for that alone, it is worth a try for a true Islay aficionado.
Port Askaig 110 Proof Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes
Nose: Dry malt, with a lot of nose tickle if you venture deeper into the glass. Some very faint vanilla.
Palate: Dry on the tongue, with more charred meat and heavily toasted multigrain bread.
Finish: Fades without bitterness, and also without much dimension.
