Detailed Description
Rare in the world of rye Whiskey are mash bills that consist of 100% rye grain: nothing else. Rarer still are whiskeys made with rye grown locally – most distilleries source their rye from the northern part of the Midwest where the more continental climate allows the grain to thrive. Scott and Ann use a strain of rye called Abruzzi rye, which, as you could probably guess, is native to the warm and sunny Abruzzo region of Italy. As this rye originated in these conditions, it comes as no surprise that it is well-suited to the American Southeast! After harvest, they use a combination of malted and unmalted rye for their mash bill to create this singular whiskey. This is downright fantastic stuff, so sip away!
