Detailed Description
Double Barrel Maple Bourbon Whiskey is the product of a relationship with Catskill Mountain Sugarhouse. Empty Bourbon barrels are sent to Catskill Mountain Sugarhouse who fills them with their delicious maple syrup. After a few months of aging, the barrel aged maple syrup is bottled and sold. Those same barrels are then immediately refilled with bourbon. This sweet and floral whiskey spends another few months in the barrels to become the annual release of Double Barrel Bourbon Whiskey with Maple Syrup.
Taconic Distillery Double Barrel Maple Bourbon Whiskey Tasting Notes
Nose: The nose is exactly as you’d expect and hope from a whiskey that mingles so intimately with maple syrup. The aromas are rich, familiar, and inviting.
Palate: On the palate, there’s a well integrated, almost minty coolness that keeps bold flavors of (of course) syrup, cookie batter, sweet corn, and baking spices well in check.
Finish: The finish is long and balanced and there’s no discernible cloying sweetness you might find in other flavored whiskeys.
