Detailed Description
Made from a mashbill of 100% rye (sourced in Colorado) this rye is produced in the mountain town of Basalt. A grain-to-bottle distiller, this is distilled in their custom-built Carl stills and aged a minimum of two years in new white American oak. In addition to their rye, they also produce a couple of vodkas and a gin.
Woody Creek Distillers Colorado Straight Rye Whiskey Tasting Notes
Nose: The nose is subtle but invigorating; lemon peel, pine, and clover; like the last bit of a summer afternoon, bottled and sold.
Palate: The first sip goes down sweet and oh-so smooth. It’s a fruity drink, with hints of raisin and Honeycrisp apple. It lacks the lingering sharpness of many whiskeys.
Finish: A juicy, cider-like aftertaste on the back of the tongue.
