Detailed Description
Distilled in Oregon, this dry gin begins with mashbill of malted barley and rye producing a “malt wine”. The botanicals are infused in a corn-based spirit. The gin is distilled in a 10-hecotoliter direct-fire pot-still and was inspired by Holland’s genevers thought it is more a hybrid of that style and American dry gins. Notable botanicals include caraway, anise, Oregon Marionberries, and local hops. Ransom Dry Gin is bottled at 43% ABV.
Ransom Dry Gin Tasting Notes
Nose: You definitely can see the inspiration from Holland genever on the nose, but perhaps there is more of a new make whiskey aroma than genever.
Palate: The spices are king in this gin, particularly the coriander and cardamom. There’s a bit of alcohol heat on the finish that seems a touch out of balance with the gin.
Finish: The finish leans on those spices and bitter roots and finishes dry.
