Detailed Description
Travel back in time to pre-Prohibition American and you’d be hard pressed to find a good bar without Rock & Rye. Post-Prohibition, it’s a little bit of a rarity. However, the New York Distilling Company has come up with their own Rock & Rye, so you’ll never have to be without it again! Mister Katz’s Rock & Rye is a combination of their youthful rye whiskey, rock candy sugar, sour cherries, cinnamon and a touch of citrus, bottled at 32.5% ABV. Gorgeously sweet with a handsome, warming depth of spice, this makes for superb sipping over ice, and can be used in cocktails too. Try it as an alternative for the rye in a Manhattan!
New York Distilling Mister Katz’s Rock & Rye Liqueur Tasting Notes
Nose: Brandied cherries, buttered malt loaf and aniseed balls. Fragrant notes of freshly baked rye bread waft up more and more the longer it’s in your glass. Candied orange peels too.
Palate: Notes of satsuma segments up front, with boiled sweeties and real cherries soon after. Touches of cinnamon and unmistakable rye whiskey give it some balancing heat. An enjoyably thick mouth feel.
Finish: Orange oils persist on the finish, with juicy cherry and a final hint of cinnamon.
