Detailed Description
An interpretation of a Pennsylvania-style rye whiskey, this spirit is made from a blend of ryes aged in new white oak barrels, and bottled at 86 proof. Medium-bodied, with spicy pepper notes and a bright oak influence, it’s best enjoy neat, on the rocks or in a classic Manhattan.
Kinsey Rye Whiskey Tasting Notes
Nose: The rye comes through on the nose a bit strangely–it smells like pickles! Specifically the sweeter bread-and-butter variety, but that doesn’t last long before dusty grains come through with rye bread and a touch of mint.
Palate: The flavor is dry and fruity, giving way to a fun cream soda note. A healthy amount of pepper lingers to make sure your first sip wasn’t your last.
Finish: Lingering.
Distillery Information
New Liberty Distillery was founded in 2004 by Robert Cassell (formerly with Philadelphia Distilling) in Philadelphia, Pennsylva. Their building once served as a stable, and much of its architecture, including the horse stalls, have been preserved. The building now provides a home to our custom-made still, as well as the rick house where we barrel age our whiskey. In addition to the working distillery, they also feature a beautiful bar and tasting room where you can sample their whiskey and enjoy craft cocktails created by their in-house mixologist Sam. Their Heritage Collection and New Liberty whiskeys, spirits-related gifts, and other locally sourced products can be purchased in their retail space.
