Detailed Description
However, all of those pale in comparison to their Highland Park 50 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Considered to be their magnum opus, the extremely well-aged and exceptionally rare expression is unlike anything the distillery has launched before both in terms of beauty and flavor. Distilled back in 1964 from 100% peat-dried malted barley, the Scotch was left to mature in ex-sherry Spanish oak hogsheads in the back of their warehouse where they laid dormant until they were re-discovered in 2008 – a momentous event that can only be attributed to either fate or luck. The valuable spirits were then married with the remainder of 3 other casks from the 1960s to achieve a harmonious balance of taste and texture before being brought to proof and packaged unfiltered in an ornate, hand-crafted, Sterling silver adorned-bottle made by famed jeweler Maeve Gillies.

Distillery Information
Highland Park, one of only two distilleries in the Orkney Isles, is the world’s most northerly whisky distillery. It was founded in 1798 by Magnus Euson. Until it was licensed in 1825 its production was illicit and Euson was assisted in evading the excisemen by a kinsman who was a Kirk elder and hid the contraband under the pulpit. By the 1880s Highland Park had an established reputation and at one time both the King of Denmark and the Emperor of Russia declared it to be the finest whisky they had ever tasted.
