A 1969 Mortlach single malt from indie bottler Gordon & MacPhail, matured for half a century in a first-fill sherry butt before being bottled in October 2019 as part of its Private Collection.

Nose: Nose is complex yet not overwhelming.
Palate: The initial rush of peat and wood smoke is followed by a gentle sweetness with hints of spice.
Finish: Finish is smooth and long.

Mortlach distillery is a distiller of Scotch whisky in Dufftown, Moray, Scotland. Founded in 1823, the distillery is currently owned by Diageo. The whisky is a key component in several Johnnie Walker bottlings., while Diageo also markets four Mortlach single malts. The still pictured above is Dufftown distillery.
