Detailed Description
Here at Ardbeg, we’ve always been passionate about the benefits of an alternative lifestyle. We dig peat. But we also dig crofting, crocheting, Celtic crosses and campfires. And for this Limited Edition bottling, we’re rolling back the years to an Islay time gone by – back to village of Peat & Love. Produced using our grooviest casks ever, aromas of smoked spices combine with distant bonfires fading into a mellow haze of apple and smoked pear. Ardbeg Grooves – It’s just good vibes…and good whisky, man. Non chill-filtered at 46.0% ABV.
Ardbeg Grooves Single Malt Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes
Nose: Freshly squeezed orange, simmering smoke, distance butterscotch, and candied lemon. Lots of salty brine on the exhale especially. Lavender is there, but it comes and goes.
Palate: Surprisingly levels of char on the palate, great oak spice, roaming dried fruit and baking spice flavours. Surprisingly smoked paprika spice in the middle and back of the palate, that’s complimented by buttery and tangy notes. Those tangy notes (mustard?) deny expand to the finish, as does the buttery notes.
Finish: A nice mouthfeel with some pepper spice, a lingering toffee sweetness slowly fading into a pleasant smoky smoldering fire – if any slight weakness when comparing the nose-taste-finish, in my opinion, it is on the finish.
